(62,451 posts)It was @ 4AM - my eyes were shut, but it was like I was looking right into the sun it was so bright.
When I finally roused my hair was standing straight up, his attic was on fire and the fire truck was just parking.

(31,405 posts)that was right next to their house, and went in through an open window in their baby's room and then right through the house down to the ground.
It was an afternoon thunderstorm and the baby was down for a nap but fortunately not hit.
It was really, really, loud. And followed up by sirens from fire trucks within minutes.

(60,010 posts)It was an old tree, taller than others around the yard.
Split the truck half way down, then the bolt tore out a small chunk of her driveway.
I heard the weird hsssss that happens just before a severe strike, then our whole house lit up with the flash. Sounded like an enormous bang/crack all at the same time.
thankfully , here in SW Ala. we rarely get those severe lightening storms, but I remember Florida's all too well.
