Way way way past, the librarian at Garden City Public Library let me borrow a book.
A book! I still feel that excitement when I walk into my Columbus Public Library
Ma'am you changed my world. Thank You

(17,984 posts)For me since I began to read. W had a Mobile Library truck that stopped in front of my house with friends lined up.
We were allowed 8 books. Took them in our bedrooms, read them, came out, shared and read those. Then waited for 2 weeks to pass.
I visit often now.

(6,113 posts)Was a voracious reader growing up, then not so much for pleasure as an adult. Was spending way too much time reading for business. Since retiring, I am now at my wonderful public library 2-3 times a week and reading 3-4 books per week.

(2,302 posts)I borrow books AND take out ebooks from my local library. Since it's one of the largest in the county, it's also a spot where reps from political party come to get petitions signed. I'm always happy to chat with the local Dems and see what they're working on (and to snub the others).

(10,098 posts)I found it fascinating, it is a history of Los Angeles Central Library and so much more about libraries and librarians in general.
