I dunno how many states have lovebugs, but I have not seen many of them around for 2 years now.
They show up in May and in Sept., I usually see them in the yard, and plastered thickly on the grills of cars in the area.
Anyone else notice their absence?

(43,049 posts)to scrape them off your windshield. Lovebug shields for your grill were a must, or they would clog your radiator.
Something in car exhaust attracted them, and there would be thick clouds of them on some roads.

" It is also known as the honeymoon fly or double-headed bug. During and after mating, matured pairs remain together , even in flight, for up to several days."

(43,049 posts)here it is August and I've had hardly any mosquito bites.
None of the usual swarms of bugs around night time lights.
I've heard it's considered part of a real problem, but everyone's pretty quiet about it.

(32,823 posts)About 5 or 6 years we were overrun with stinkbugs, those ugly flying beetles from China. They burrowed in here for a few years because they have no natural enemies in North America. However they apparently hate our winters in Pennsylvania so they started migrating south to get away from the cold. I haven't seen one stinkbug this entire year. And yes, they do stink. They smell like a teenager's gym shorts on a hot day, especially when you smash them in your hands.
