So I have some good news and bad news

Good news: It was caught early, so chemo and radiation should kill it.

2. My mom was a cancer survivor - twice

Toughest lady I ever met. Two separate bouts with breast cancer, both breasts removed. Lasted decades after that, eventually passed a few years ago from a failing heart.

as she goes through treatment. It sounds like the prognosis for recovery is very good. My father had radiation for prostate cancer when he was in his early 80's. He is 92 years old now and is doing great. I worried when he was going through the treatments because they were kind of difficult (not at the beginning, but the during the last few treatments), but he got his strength back pretty quickly afterwards. It helped that others who had gone through it told him (and me!) that they had recovered were doing well.
