A friend visiting from a nearby town said she wanted to eat at Popeyes because the Popeyes where she lives is always out of their new chicken sandwich.
So we drove to my nearby Popeyes. I was wanting to give it a try. We got there at 10:50 am, and there was already a line at the drive-through window. We went inside to join the line there. A minute later, the manager locked the doors to keep anyone else from entering the dining room. He said he was short on help, so after this line was served, he'd only be taking drive-thru orders.
We waited 15 minutes and then left because food was coming out so slowly. The parking lot was packed with cars in line. I guess I'll wait another month.

(25,936 posts)My local Popeyes franchise closed the doors last month - hadn't even been open more than a year or so. I haven't got a clue as to why; I patronized the place and found nothing wrong with it. I don't know if this sandwich could have turned things around for this store, but I wish I could try it without going out of town.

(14,531 posts)The lines are long, real long to get it. Some stores are selling out and some are limited 1 per customer.

(16,064 posts)Hint. Ask for hot sauce and honey. Mix them together and dip your chicken in it. Oh my.

(61,695 posts)mostly chicken, but also shrimp and sometimes other fish, IIRC. Sides include red beans and rice, corn on the cob, cajun fries, mashed potatoes with cajun gravy, dirty rice, etc. Good biscuits.

I don't get it. Used to go to Popeyes when I lived in Joisey, but it was nothing special, just a little different. Finally got into the one here and it was still nothing special. Marginally better than the Colonel down the road, but more expensive.
The one I miss is Bojangles. Last time I mentioned them I was told they are still open down South, but they seem to have closed all their Northeast stores.

(4,516 posts)I've been there twice if 5 years, when the power went out. What's so special about the sandwich?

How can I invest in Popeye's?

(9,265 posts)Good biscuits. Lousy coleslaw (there is nothing better than *good* coleslaw) and mediocre chicken. Will try again sometime.

Aside from that, it's a great move by whomever at Popeyes started this. There are mad crowds at Popeyes and some fights have even broken out because they've run out of food combined with the long wait.

(23,656 posts)anytime soon. Chik-filet near me, always mobbed. 1st of all wouldn't go there because of their anti-gay positions, but also not gonna wait that long for "fast food".
