(11,421 posts)in Rollinsville, Colorado. I must have been 11-yrs. old in 1966. Watch that big ass door roll up and a big diesel roars out, really still to this day.

(4,981 posts)Was so enamored with them that for my fifth birthday, I got to take one of the shortest flights possible in the state: San Antonio to Austin. Got all dressed up for it - still remember my big plastic earrings and navy striped dress. Was a big deal. Was glued to the window for the 15 minutes of the aloft, move about the cabin section of the 30ish minute flight.

Thanks for this!

(54,370 posts)My brother turned me on to him in 1971, and I was permanently hooked on his music. I was fanatic enough to learn who made those amazing guitars he was playing at the time (Boo Podunavac), including in the video above, seek the man out when I had the chance (February, 1977), and bought 8 or so guitars from him over the years. I never got anywhere near Leo's level, of course, but got good enough to be invited for a few German folk festivals and a few solo tours there (Leo couldn't be everywhere at once, after all).
At the top of his game here, after ditching the picks and switching to the lighter Taylor guitars:
For those unfamiliar with Leo or this piece (Eggtooth), it changes gears at 2:20 and goes from brilliant to unbelievable.

( for fans it was during the rainbow era)rode amtrak untill 2000 . mum passed 2004 on the 21st of december . i then flew to las vegas untill my dad and 2nd wife couldnt go to las vegas any more . so i took amtrak to kingman . the station was 6 miles from his house . im 62 going on 63 this coming month and still love trains . the video was lovely.

(38,421 posts)When I was in Tokyo, visiting a friend, we road the Tokyo subway. both of us in our 60s then, and guess what? When we rode, we rode in the front car watching the engineer do what they do, and watching the scenery and buildings as they went by. In the subway, we still watched the background and such.......
..People in Japan, stand ever so politely at the subway platform waiting for the train. Quietly and without movement. Unlike the subways in the U.S.A. were there is noise and lots of it. People have loud radios, yelling etc. Oh, they don't push and shove like they often do here.

(17,291 posts)After Mass we went to the railroad station in Colorado Springs as we usually did so my father could get the out of town papers (and my brother and I loved looking at the trains too.) But this was no ordinary sunday. For my birthday, we were going to ride the train to Pueblo and back! It was magic.
Best birthday ever! Thanks, Mom and Dad!
