It was at a pharmacy inside a grocery store.
I felt so accomplished that afterwards, I walked around the crowded store and sought out people who were coughing. I walked up to them and said...go ahead, cough on me...it's ok! No really, do it! C'mon do it! DO IT I SAID!
They looked at me like I was crazy and then hurried away from me. I ran after each of them and said...it's a prank bro! It's a prank! I got my flu shot! See? Here's my paperwork! Then we all had a good laugh.
But enough of my horseshit...seriously, please get your flu shot.
I usually get my flu shot with no problems. It does reduce your risk substantially. The only time I ever got the flu after getting a flu shot was a few years ago. I ended up in the ER, and they swabbed my nose and said yep, you have the flu. It was the year in which they had some kind of mix up when determining the proper flu strains or something. So that was the only time I got the flu after getting the shot. It wasn't pleasant. Even if the flu doesn't kill you, it can get so bad that you wish it did. Please protect yourself and everyone you come in contact with...get the shot.

(11,913 posts)the quadrivalent version in my right arm, and the pneumonia shot in my left. Probably shouldn't have gotten them both at the same time, but it was convenient. Much more sore in my left than the right, like "can't lift my arm to do anything" sore.

(17,425 posts)I got mine in my left arm about 9-10 hours ago. No soreness yet.
I actually gave a passing thought to get the pneumonia shot also, but figured I would wait a bit. I had one about 30 years ago, and at that time they were saying that pneumonia shots were good for life, but I'm not sure about that now.

(11,913 posts)They gave it to me because I'm diabetic and can have immune issues. I'm 56, so they said I wouldn't get another one until I'm 65.
I've had the flu 2x in my life. I had the Hong Kong flu when I was 6. Had a horrible year the year I was diagnosed diabetic - nasty lingering bronchitis, a bout of Norwalk virus, and a mild case of the flu. Don't want to repeat that!
Just laid down in bed and thought "Crap!" because I'm a side sleeper

(23,975 posts)As much as you can, move that arm. The more you move it, the sooner the soreness will lessen.

(11,913 posts)I'm wondering if maybe she shouldn't have given it to me in my shoulder I had so much repair done on. I would think that scar tissue would take longer to absorb the meds.

(52,208 posts)Tried to test it to get ready for the winter. We like a nice fire sometimes. It squeaked a bit so I oiled it, but the oil turned out to be superglue, so it's now completely shot to hell.
I don't recommend getting your flue shot.
LuckyCharms
(17,425 posts)I used super glue instead of eye drops once.
It wasn't so bad, except for the nickname they gave me..."Sleepy".

(32,674 posts)and she really said no. I might try my doctor this year. He is so proud of me giving myself my weekly injections in my hip. I can even do do it with my left hand, or right hand.

(6,622 posts)And I also got the MMR for good measure, since Im traveling out of the country next month. I opted for both in one arm just in case they make my arm sore - no point in having BOTH arms sore!
Ive been trying to remember to do a few pushups and windmill arms (like Bart Simpson) and other antics every little while to try to move things along.
Wish us all luck!

(25,295 posts)I was at the pharmacy and they asked me if I wanted a flu shot. I'm almost 63, but was always afraid the shot would make me sick. (It used to make hubby sick)
Another reason: I've had to go the doctor several times over the past several winters. I used to never get sick, but I guess I'm getting old....
