My thing is: they look too young to have fought in the Korean War. Where the hell did they earn those decorations, then?

I received four Army Achievement Medals when I was in. It's basically the Army's version of a participation trophy. One of them was supposed to be the Army Commendation Medal, that I was to be presented with when I got out of the service. But my platoon sergeant didn't get the paperwork in in time. So I got a fourth AAM. Oh well...

Told this one by a fellow Personnel Puke: He was stationed at Tan Son Nhut. He had to process all the medal recommendations pouring in from all the bases under the 7th Air Force - a lot. He had one clerk, a two striper. Got to the point where he just couldn't cope. Coming in faster than he could push them through the pipe. So pulled a bunch out of the bottom of the pile, shred and put them in File 13.

They were PITAs to process, right up there with Aircraft Accident Boards paper bales. No doubt the same with the Army. I'm surprised anyone got any low level flair. I'm sure that's how hubster was screwed out of his Commendation.

They're North Korean.
