(7,605 posts)I'm having a small-scale non-deplorable Thanksgiving gathering tomorrow. The menu is BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes and corn.
I'm not opposed to turkey at all, it's just that ribs sounds so much better. Great minds!

(11,098 posts)If I don't start a turkey in the smoker in the late evening - get up every two hours to build up the fire - and sleep through lunch, Thanksgiving just would not be the same. At least that's what my wife, mom and mom-in-law think.

(14,274 posts)My wife immigrated from Japan and never had turkey before we met. She tells me she will never get used to the taste and finds it repulsive.
I also know a woman whose husband is from Nigeria and he has the same reaction to turkey. I grew up with it and never realized it is an acquired taste.
