The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDo you have a cat, kitten or kitty? (Kitteh)
A cat sleeps all the time and ignores you except when it wants food.
A kitten is a four-legged WMD, especially on drapes.
A kitty (kitteh) is affectionate, a lap spud and purrbox.
I have two kittys.

(32,093 posts)When she is not sleeping or ignoring me or demanding one thing or another, she is an affectionate purrbox lap spud, who is constantly in my face.

(19,379 posts)Really only went to get one cat for my daughter, but couldn't split them up. They had been found on a steam grate with their paws burned and about half dead. They're about 5yrs old now. Boy weighs 20+ lbs and the girl is normal size.

(8,492 posts)Brother and two sisters. Tuxedo babies. The male is sort of stupid, but incredibly sweet. The smallest female is an evil genius that protects her much larger brother. The other girl has some brain damage, but very sweet to people. Hates her brother and sister.
I always feel sorry for the little one. As smart as she is, she's got a constant "Seriously. WTF." look on her face. Her respite is alone time with me, which is rare and short-lived. As soon as she gets comfortable, her brother comes and sits on her while her sister hides under the chair and hisses/growls at them.

(8,492 posts)...Chili Pepper! Except he has a big black dot on the tip of his nose and he's always just a little cross-eyed. Their mama's name was Brigit, btw. She was a tiny little psychotic calico that feared nothing and loved to play with fire. I couldn't light a candle in my house for 13 years.

(9,527 posts)She sleeps a lot and screams when she wants to be fed, but whenever I lay down she pretty much immediately hops on top of me to sleep. She's too nervous around people to really be open to too much affection unless she can control the situation. I don't know what happened to her before I got her, but it took me a month to get her out from under the bed when I first got her so I assume somebody mistreated her.
Either that or just like human females, she really didn't want to go to bed with me.

(1,412 posts)of them, and had them spayed/neutered through our SOS, save our strays program. Now the idea is, is to have them "fixed" and release them back into the wild, cutting down on all those unwanted kitties.
I found homes for most of them, but when I opened the cage door for the last two they didn't go far. Decided they liked my back yard (food here). After 2/3 years, they decided my house looked safe and comfortable, so they came in and stayed. Big Boy lived 16 years and little Cici 11 years. When I had company, they would both hide. They were very sweet with me, but always on the look out for danger.
Now I am feeding my neighbors cat because they don't, and one other starving feral, who is looking much healthier now that I have been feeding him for the last month.
Does this count for having kitties, even though I don't actually own them?

(47,675 posts)I guess the big guy qualifies for a cat. The princesses are both kitty sorts now, but the kittens are definitely WMDs. We use blinds instead of drapes, but they love shredding the shower curtains and anyone's legs and have discovered the wonders of a toilet paper roll.

(33,688 posts)He likes his alone time but he also has to have a fair amout of shared time close to me. If he's awake he follows me around like a puppy. Most nights he hops up on the bed next to me, purring away, until I go to sleep.
