So what about people who DON'T celebrate Thanksgiving...?

I know it's an American thing, but seriously? I would think there might be plenty of folks who maybe don't have family, or just don't feel the need for a day of gorging on food... but what about them?
The stores and everything here are all closed. How the heck are those people gonna go on about their lives?

Just a thought. We are really not doing a whole bunch here today. Snowed in, and I was too broke to think about spending that much $$ on just ONE meal. So it's a simple Stove Top & ground turkey casserole, maybe I'll bake a cake just to warm up the house a bit. One teen is out of the house and visiting a friend's for dinner, the other teen is busy gaming and such.

Hope everyone here has a lovely day

It doesn't make my day any different. It's just another day when I wasn't planning to go anywhere or buy anything anyway.

I just like my solitude. I talked with family and old friends on the phone and that was nice. I did enjoy my day.

go to Dollar Tree, I said they were closed. They went to Wal mart and DT was open. Other than Target, pretty much all the stores and restaurants are open. I feel awful for the employees that have to work on a holiday.😔

Afterwards, we went for a dim sum lunch at our favorite place in Chinatown.
This has been our routine for the last three years.
Really rewarding and more fun than sitting around a table with people you might not like.

day of gorging on food.

We fixed a nice dinner* but as is our custom, we just had modest portions. Neither one of us likes the feeling of being "stuffed."

If a person is not up for fixing a big meal, I think your idea of having a ground turkey casserole with Stove Top sounds like it would fit the comfort food bill.

..too bad though no dinero to take a short vacation...ay, I'll just have to settle for watching the travel channel for now and add interesting places to bucket list--when I hit the lottery!

Anyway, I'll have to try stove top & ground turkey casserol anything that's easy to prepare works for me.

Paz.

Cream of chicken soup as the gravy.base...I like to put in some wine and spices

Saute some onions & celery, add some mixed vegies, pre-brown the turkey or use leftovers from a roticerrie chicken

just throw it all in a casserole dish, make the stove top in a bowl with some water then crumble on top of the goop...cook for about 15-20 mins, then add some shredded cheese on top for fun

I like to add some jelly cranberry on the side for that sweet/savory combo...

There's probably a couple other more detailed recipes online

Let me know how it goes!

but it can be thinned with cream...
I like doing the sauce/soup in a small pan first, adding pepper and seasonings till it tastes right (plain cream of chicken soup is kinda narly)

then just dump it all in the casserole dish!

More and more things are staying open each year. And now with Black Friday starting on Thanksgiving, most big stores are open. CVS, Walgreens are open. Winn-Dixie is open.

Granted it was pretty quiet around where I live, off AIA in NE FL, didn't hear the normal hum of traffic in the distance, but the stores in my area and restaurants were open.

Used to be a tradition for my sis and I to go to a movie after Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.

And that was in the 70s.

I'm stuck here just outside of Portland, OR., at a truck stop, waiting to deliver my load, last night the restaurant cooked a Thanksgiving meal for us truck drivers at no cost to us,
Turkey, stuffing, broccoli with cheese sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread and pumpkin pie.
