Women's grand slalom skiing; Killington, Vermont: brava, Italia.

I've been inside all day cleaning house. I caught the last fifteen minutes of this on over-the-air NBC.

Mikaela Shiffrin rallies for podium as Italy goes 1-2 in Killington giant slalom

They're so good. If I could ski at 1% of their level, I'd be satisfied.

Ten years ago, when digital TV was in its transition period (available, but not mandatory), Universal Sports, an arm of NBC, aired hours of alpine skiing over the air, for free. They dropped that a long time ago. I miss it so much. Every year, between Christmas and New Year's, they would air the Four Hills ski jumping competition. Wow, that was great. It was so much fun.

I am not a skier but appreciate people that can... I go through Killington often and never knew there were such big events there

Fall Camp where I used to live. It's going on now, finishes tomorrow. There was s piece on it this morning or yesterday on NPR. I would volunteer for some of it and just enjoy all ski opportunity I had when I lived in the area during ski season. There are several ski events that take place there but Fall Camp, as we used to call it, is the first event of the ski season for North America. The town is so small that just about everyone is involved in some part of the whole week long event. All the cooks, hoteliers and whatever were busy that week and that would be it for weeks until the park opened for over snow travel.

I met lots of the Olympians and whomever was a somebody in cross country/nordic freestyle during those years. And I attended some of the ski clinics to improve my own skiing. Now I live an hour from the nearest skiing place... I used to be able to step off the porch and be off from there. I was spoiled and I knew it.

Guess I'll have to dial in and watch these athletes fly down the mountain, they amaze me with their nerve to travel so fast, risking so much potential pain. I love to watch them though.
