I went back every day calling for them. Simba was the first one we found and he came out of the remains of the house. The next day I found his brother, Mouse, outside of the remains of the house.

They were indoor/outdoor cats and I always thought the reason they survived was they were out when the house caught fire at 4:30 am. It was an inferno in minutes and if they'd hidden in the house, we wouldn't have had time to search for them.

Losing most all possessions is really a hard blow. So glad your kitties weren't killed. Do you still have them?

Btw, we had a Siamese whose nickname was Mouse and we just lost a good friend who's kitty was named Mousie - she was mentioned in his OB. 😪

Mouse lived until 2009 to age 14, and Simba lived until 2013 to age 17. They were from two different litters in the same household of a little old cat lady. They grew up as brothers and were very dedicated to each other. Both big cats who weighed over 20 lbs each!
