14. I don't understand the "Star Wars is for boys" mentality.

I remember Halloween, 1977. I dressed up as C-3PO, and my brother wore an upturned plastic trash can modified to look like R2-D2.

Everywhere we went while trick-or-treating, we saw girls dressed up as Princess Leia, wearing the side-buns hairstyle with varying degrees of success. Never once did I or my brother think that was somehow wrong. Princess Leia is a character in Star Wars. Why shouldn't girls emulate her strength and heroism?

18. STAR WARS IS CLEARLY FOR GIRLS, TOO

When THE FORCE AWAKENS opened which featured a female lead, the toy commercial tie-ins often featured little girls in prominent roles. Those commercials are all collected on Youtube. I watched one of those compilations back then and some guy complained that they were being "politically correct" by giving girls equal time. I pointed out that Princess Leia was always a main character in the original films and some people even in 1977 found her controversial because of her take charge persona.
