Question for those of you who saw "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" or the Mister Rogers movie?

I'm curious about the Best Supporting noms for Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks.

Why did they receive nominations for "Best Supporting" rather than "Best Actor"?

Were they not in the movies enough to warrant "Best Actor" nominations?

Just curious.
