Do the Knicks have too many fans?

I admit I'm late to this tempest in a teapot, but it appears that Spike Lee - perhaps the most prominent Knick fan on the face of the earth - got into some kind of dust-up over the weekend with Knicks management over using the employee entrance to Madison Square Garden. Lee claims he's used that entrance for years, Knicks management is saying they've asked Lee numerous times to use a separate celebrities entrance and not the employees' entrance.

Link to MSN's clip of Larry Brown Sports column.

Considering the Knicks are dead last in their division, and haven't won a title in more than 45 years, is it really a smart move to pick a fight with a prominent fan like this, a fight the Knicks are almost certain to lose? Hey, Seattle's always on the lookout for an NBA franchise.

I say, no they don't, but Spike Lee needs to follow the rules..he's not an employee.
