Pinot noir vs pinot griego - the results are dribbling in:

My months' long trials with wine are nearing the end - that is, wine is not favored in general (just beer for SERIOUS meditation). I've been piqued for years over supposed "health" benefits of wine and because of not grokking why wine has been a big deal for thousands of years. And for use on "off" nights.

Won't go into the experiments with Cabernet, merlot and such before zeroing in with pino noir, which has seemed smoother and less sour than merlot. Now have tried griego and the taste seems as smooth as noir while also lighter.

So this individual consumer reports the winner is griego.

*********ON EDIT: Sincere & many appreciations to all who didn't lord it to correct my spelling of "grigio"!1 I've never claimed to be a gourmet or any other category of snob!1

1. This winery does both pretty well (affordably)

Plus, it comes in cans, so you can just keep it with your beer.

They do a champagne, too. It's kind of cool to drink champagne out of a can.

2. Wow, never imagined wine in a can, but then can't even "get" wine in a BOX!1

How does that "box" deal work, how translate into liters? I've preferred the 1.5L amounts. I say "amounts". I cracked up a vendor who was trying to talk to me in gourmet terms, and I told him, "I'm not a gourmet!1 Just point me to the thirteen per cent!1"

4. Box wine is great! I've been buying Franzia blush for years. It has a little spiggot on the front

close to the bottom of the box. It stay fresh tasting until the last drop, and I mean the last drop! You take the box and tilt and pour until it's empty. I've actually opened the box of an empty one and slit the insulated bag inside & nothing remains, not a drop. They have several different wines, white zinfandel, blush, red (don't remember the name they used). It's a 5 liter box.

5. Grigio is to wine that Pilsner is to beer.

Both light and crisp. I was never a fan of white wines, but Pinot Grigio changed that. Since getting sick I can’t drink beer, and a little wine is OK. I miss drinking Ouzo.

When in doubt I get Coppola. Cab Sav is a nice way to drown the cares from the past week.
