I love mysteries but hard to find things which are not sweetie pie with romance or blood and mayhem. Any suggestions?

5. Donna Leon or Louise Penny

Donna Leon does mysteries in Venice. Louse Penny creates a world near Montreal with impossibly sweet snd quirky characters.

My suggestion is that you read both authors from book #1, as the characters develop in the series.

I also like Barbara Nadel - her detective is in Istanbul.

If you can't find these authors at your local independent bookstore, look at Powell's in Seattle. https://www.powells.com They also have used books.
