I recommend "The Good Place". It's a great show. I also recommend Lodge 49, Terriers, and Justified

(8,201 posts)He was skeptical at first--kept saying he wasn't interested in wrestlers, lady or otherwise--but he was completely won over by about the third episode.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's about a group of down-on-their-luck women hired by a former cult movie director to be the cast of Glamorous Ladies of Wrestling, in the mid-80s. Funny, character-driven, sweet, well-acted.
Edited to add: and yes to The Good Place.

(8,052 posts)The Office, as always. King of Queens on TV Land. Finished Malcolm in the Middle on Hulu not too long ago, wish we had parceled it out to make it last longer.

(1,639 posts)has mentioned the former Fox TV show, The Last Man on Earth. It was on shortly after the election, and one episode shows a character watching the news from a secure bunker. The news reported funerals of President Trump, President Pence and even President De Vos.

(8,042 posts)I also recommend Schitt's Creek. The first five seasons are on Netflix and it's in it's last season now (about to end in April) on a station I'm not familiar with (It's a Canadian show). If you're a Christopher Guest fan or a fan of really quirky comedy - this is top notch!

(20,680 posts)Incredible work. So realistic. I had to watch it through a few times to really appreciate and understand it all. Incredible, and they want you to do the thinking to keep up. You just don't know what's really going on!

It's scary smart about current world politics and boasts some wonderfully engaging characters, especially the Russian ambassador. The premise: a green party wins control of Norway's parliament and the PM announces a breakthrough project for a thorium reactor and that he will shut down the country's oil and gas wells. All this to combat climate change. The EU responds by allying with Russia to occupy those wells and all hell breaks loose. Over three seasons you follow a diverse group of characters and will find yourself conflicted at times about whose side you are on. It's in Norwegian with English subtitles but often, as when the Norwegians speak with the Russians, English is spoken.

Kashkakat v.2.0
(1,752 posts)this one. Maybe some of the earlier seasons of Seinfeld. But then American sitcoms took a nosedive after that, became more cringe-inducing than funny .

(8,445 posts)I was just going to mention it. I hadn't had time to watch any more than bits and pieces of Season 5, so that's what's happening tonight.
And for anyone who hasn't done themselves the favor of watching it, the episodes are short. so you don't need to commit a lot of time to it all at once.
I'm looking forward to Season 3 of Ozark on March 27. Maybe after Season 5 of Schitt's Creek, I'll re-watch Season 2 of Ozark.

(4,723 posts)does anyone else think it would be a neat thing to find old episodes of shows that aired the same night and reconstruct what was broadcast and watch them just as they aired? You'd be too busy trying to research and track down the shows and watch them to think about COVID-19 for a while.

(34,136 posts)Great fun, terrific cast. Although I am only on season 2, I'm looking forward to the next season. One of the places we stayed while in the UK was being used to film an episode the day we left!

(2,565 posts)It's too early to say, but I have a familiar settling-in feeling that means it might be a favorite. So far, nothing has come close to Detectorists, but I'm keeping hope alive.
Thanks for recommendations!
