1919: Stanley Cup is cancelled due to global influenza outbreak

1992 and 1993: Toronto wins their first World Serieses
1994: World Series cancelled due to the player's strike

2019: Toronto wins their first NBA championship
2020: NBA championship cancelled

But it only seems to happen the first time one of their teams wins, so maybe we’re safe.

The first year the Argonauts won the championship, WWI started. So you may be on to something.
