Am I the only one here with a spouse who is grumpy about the cancellation of March Madness?

His mood has cast a pall over our evening. He doesn't drink any more, nor do I, so that is one consoling thing he can't have.

My GLoomy Gus needs to grow up sometimes...

good news here: my books arrived from the printer and it just looks great. My daughter is a genius at book design!

I am in the midst of working on another book, The Gladdened Heart, which looks at art portraying music. As a result, I am learning a great deal about the lute and the mandolin, to name a few of the instruments artists have painted over the centuries of western art. I ordered a bunch of books and my bedroom is strewn with them and printouts of material from the Internet. It's all so glorious! And my daughter has said she'll design this one, too. We're a team!

Sadly, I may have to cancel a trip to Spain with my daughter for late October. That's a bummer but Madrid and Barcelona will be there next year!

...on a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

When your college sports day are over, that’s it. I had a hard time of it when our sons’ college soccer days ended. They’d each started playing when they were 5, so being on the soccer sidelines was a huge part of our existence for 20 years.
