My husband purchased a world map.... gave me a dart and said "throw this and wherever it lands I'm taking you for a holiday when this pandemic is over". Turns out we're spending two weeks behind the fridge.

I got a chuckle out of that. I hope you get a smile. Best wishes to all DU'ers and your friends and families!

(17,003 posts)When I painted my kitchen a few months ago, I decided to get a little goofy. I painted a big smiley face behind the refrigerator. If something happens to me, I thought someone might get a chuckle when they pulled out the fridge to clean or something. Or maybe it'll just confirm their opinions that I'm more than a bit quirky.

(8,445 posts)I'm not anticipating leaving very soon, but you never know. I've written them all letters, and also have a big manila envelope with instructions on how to go about things, notes about my tenants, insurance policies, etc. I texted each of them after putting it together, and my two sons texted right back, frantic that something was going on with me. My daughter already knew that it's just mom trying to make things easier for them, just in case.

(1,428 posts)WW 2 my parents decide to re paper the dining room. As a reward for helping to scrape off all the old wallpaper we drew cartoons of Hitler, Tojo and Mussolini on the walls, including lots of patriotic and quite a few derogatory remarks about the Axis.
I often wonder if anyone has ever scraped those walls down to the plaster to reveal out WW 2 Time Capsule.

(23,097 posts)I understand the husband's sentiment. We had a trip to DC planned for last week to see the cherry blossoms and the Smithsonian. Hubby nor I have ever been to DC and we were going to fix that - had a really nice AirBNB place arranged. Damn.
At least it is really beautiful here right now, the weather is near perfect, so it's really nice sitting out on the deck, going for walks with the dog, playing with the dog. Not as fun but needed, it's a great time to weed my flower beds and I have tons to do.
The first year of my retirement, we traveled a fair amount. Last year I nearly died and lost a year and was happily planning on making up for lost time this year with trips to NZ, DC and Charlotte planned. All have now been cancelled of course. I can't wait until this is over and we can start traveling again!

(23,097 posts)Too bad this great time of year for travel in the SE was turned into such a bad time by drumpfs' utter incompetence.
