I am watching the Met's HD rebroadcast of John Adams' opera "Nixon in China,"

and I got to wondering what kind of opera could be made about the Trump administration, which is so bizarre that no form other than opera could display it in all its absurdity. Opera lends itself well to absurd plots. I imagine Trump as a countertenor.

It's pretty cool. Must have been a lot of fun to play in the orchestra. The Velveteen Ocelot Apr 2020 #4

is just wonderful. I enjoyed it when I played parts from it in the orchestra but the entire opera was quite nice. It has been a long time since I have seen it but I played "Nixon in China" a few years ago and once before that probably 15 years ago. Interesting music.
