(14,944 posts)Hi all you fellow insomniacs!
Thought I'd crash after a long busy week.
Yet, here I am. I may give the bed a try in another half hour or so...
Nothing worse than lying there awake...

(14,944 posts)Was gifted some homemade Alice B. Toklas caramels. Delicious and effective. Going to sleep is easy, staying asleep is the issue.

(9,651 posts)I get really cranky if people wake me before I'm wide awake on my own.

(5,166 posts)I'm one who needs - absolutely needs- a certain amount of good sleep to carry on the day.
That interruption of solid sleep can't just be turned on and off.
I certainly realize that part of the problem is of my doing by staying up to late, but that is my weakness and not easily changed.
Dem2theMax
(9,651 posts)And if someone wakes me up before I'm ready, I'm dragging all day long. I turn off all my phones at night, because people did not respect my schedule. It's the only way I can guarantee a decent night's sleep. I haven't had one of those since Trump was 'selected.'
So looking forward to having a Democrat in the White House. I think we'll all get a lot better sleep.

(5,128 posts)Always look forward to your ask me anything threads. Especially since you like Vodka......
Never join in, stay low. But yes, sleep is being disrupted in mighty ways. And we are not even on front line.
Still trying to process Gov Abbott today. We live in North Dallas suburb. Live with and take care of 84 yr old mom with memory issues. We just thank God every day we stepped in a couple of years ago to keep her not in a senior place.
Thank you for all you do and everything you are going through. Stay safe, stay well. Mix your vodka with lots of Elderberry syrup.
Valerian works well too. Take care. We fear all hell is coming to Texas.....

(2,579 posts)I should go to bed. I am having groceries delivered early tomorrow, but my night owl tendencies are interfering. Last night there was more noise outside, sounded like more traffic on the streets then there has been in quite a while. Tonight it is just too quiet and I fear that I will disturb the neighborhood if I stay up and try to get anything done. Sigh. I wish I could move way out in the woods, where I could make noise at night if I want to. I always seem to have more energy at night, and I find my day has too many interruptions from other people, even though most of the interruptions are from my electronic devices. Love you, sir. I hope you get some refreshing rest tonight.

(95,247 posts)Went to bed early, woke up just now. From a dream that got so stupid that, while still asleep, I had to pull myself up, tell myself this is not really happening, you do not need to pursue this further, and then I came awake. Fucker ought have quit when I broke both his thumbs....
Anyway, odds of getting back to sleep before six are pretty slim --- I tend towards a four hours on, four hours off schedule if there's nothing much happening to discommode it.

(63,912 posts)I'm getting into Ma Rainey.
My book is entitled "The Gladdened Heart: when art and music danced together." The concept, title and writing so far are under copyright.
One of the big problems of this book is that it is SO WHITE. Hence, my research into art movements such as the Harlem Renaissance. And black artists today, such as Faith Ringgold and her NYC subway station art. Fabulous.
Not bad for an old lady. We'll see what comes of this late night muttering...

(63,912 posts)of the essays already developing would be proof of my authorship. It sorta "came to me" as I was thinking about a "thesis" ("here's what I want to do" statement. And there is a lot of poetry in music.

(25,511 posts)Always people or monsters trying to kill me. This morning I woke up too early (probably from bad dreams but I couldn't remember them) and took a nap later in the morning. Drifted off to sleep and jerked awake again and again after being attacked by the same would-be murderer. THANKS, TRUMP!

(1,979 posts)and then I am up for most the night. I was never a good sleeper and the 2016 disaster finished any hope of normalcy. Hypervigelance it's called. As soon as I wake up I have to log on and see what the Orange Idiot King and his court have cooked up now.
