I have found the expression "city of sunset" in a scifi-novel, refering to some place on Earth. (No further info.) Does anyone know which city that could be?
LA?
Sunset City in Utah? (Doubt it.)
Sunset Valley in Texas? (Doubt it.)
Sunset in Louisiana? (Doubt it.)

(10,749 posts)Is that the answer would be found in the context of the novel rather than a specific place. Especially in sci-fi novels, which often create entirely imaginary worlds.

(5,640 posts)Otherwise there are lots of possibilities. Like the post above LA is one.
The last place the sun sets is in Hawaii and Samoa.

Plus, what else what happening in the novel when "city of sunset" occurred? Again, some context.

(16,423 posts)The date is some 30,000 AD and it is only mentioned that the city of sunset was destroyed by the bad guys of the novel at some time in the past.

(25,857 posts)My best guess is going to be that given how far in the future it's set, the city of sunset is completely fictitious. There's always a distant possibility that the city will show up again later on and everything will be made clear, but if not, just accept it as an indication of how bad the bad guys are.
Hope you are enjoying the novel.
