We were having face time w/ her and when it was my turn to talk, she said to her nurse, "that looks like my daughter."
ALL of us got so excited! It's been a while since she's even hinted at knowing any of us--even my Dad, who she's been married to for >69 years.
Today is 2 weeks since we got her Covid-19 diagnosis. It's been quite the roller coaster ride. And I think that with lower oxygen levels it doesn't help her dementia at all.
Today, she looks good, but is complaining of being tired. So I logged out of the meeting early. She needs her rest if she's going to beat this.
Probably won't get more face time until Tuesday, but this moment feels so good, it may just hold me over until then.

(3,266 posts)to get those rare glimpses of the person they used to be, the soul that still resides in there. Dementia is just so terribly, awfully cruel. I FaceTimed with my mom yesterday and she was so out of it she didnt really even understand what she was looking at with the nurses phone. Im so sad I cant go to her. Im so glad you had a good call!

(22,506 posts)My mom passed on Feb. 20. She was really out of it for about 4 months before so I couldn't communicate with her much at all but the last time I saw her she had, "woken up" some and I was able to talk to her and tell her all sorts of things like how much I appreciated having her as a mother and telling her things that I remembered from my childhood. And she was able to smile so I know she heard me. It was really a blessing.
I hope your mom continues to recovery.

(16,254 posts)and she is now doing fine. She can't talk because of the ventilator, but she posts on Facebook to her daughters.
Her doctor said she fought it like a 30-year-old. I was shocked.
I was glad to see your mother was doing so well. Never give up hope. I wish her the best.
