French baguette with julienned pickled carrot & daikon, cucumber, raw jalapeño & cilantro. Your choice of protein--mine is sliced tofu. $4 at my favorite place in the International District (Saigon Deli on S. Jackson).

(115,683 posts)with pulled or marinated pork (usually), pickled carrots or other pickles, cucumbers and mayonnaise. It's delicious and should have been the Minnesota sandwich because it's available almost everywhere here. (I have never had a walleye sandwich and I've lived here all my life.)

The quintessential lunch sandwich for most of the year is fried bologna with cheese, on white bread with either mustard or Miracle Whip. But in the late summer, it's a tomato sandwich on white bread with Miracle Whip and lots of salt and pepper.
