The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsLooking to buy a chair that turns into a bed -- not a recliner, though. Ideas?
I see various kinds of things that fold into thirds to make a fat overstuffed chair. But are there other options?
Thoughts/experiences appreciated

(5,640 posts)Looked pretty cool. I know it says recliner but it is a chair...

(60,010 posts)The head/back, the seat, and the leg/foot rest can all be adjusted much more than a typical lounger.
It had wide cushioned
What caught my eye was the ability to have my legs up high enough while still in a somewhat seated position.
But now I can't find it again on the internet.

Hope you find what you need!

(5,172 posts)Is it to conserve space? There are ottomans and foam foldouts that are comfy but close to the floor. It would be 4-6" for the foam fold out or 7-8" for the ottoman. If you have a little more room, there are sofas that either foldout, similar to the foam chair, and they come in different materials from foam to complete foldout, roll-a-bed style. Then there are the old Murphy style hidden drop-down bed; and one for the lazy person (but athletic) a bunk bed. You can have your chair or futon on the bottom, and a bed you never have to make up in the morning on top. Practical, I think. The drawback is you have to climb into and out of the poor-person loft. Cheap ideas to get you by are camping cots or hiker's roll-up mats.

(36,262 posts)NOT the Western-style "futons", which are more like mutant couches.
Here's a USA-made futon frame that looks interesting, and is affordable, but I can't vouch for it personally: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001IMK8TC

(13,569 posts)I like futons, but the one I have slips like crazy! The mattress slides forward.

(36,262 posts)There's even an Ottoman hide-a-bed, but it looks even less comfortable than a couch hide-a-bed.

(25,247 posts)It was the episode with Brad Pitt. They showed a unique product that might suit your needs. If you can catch that episode you should watch it to check it out.
