Just spent the better part of an hour chatting with "Edith" at Comcast customer support. Guessing by her syntax (as in, "I am appreciating of your difficulty" ) she isn't exactly local. Anyway, we went back and forth about my continuing difficulties with most of my channels either not working or pixilating into unwatchable; unplugged, plugged back in, channel up, channel down, yes the guide shows, no it gives no info, been going on for almost a month now. Tech came last week and confirmed television and equipment all connected properly and in good working condition; he blamed high usage due to CV19, not buying that when even CNN quits working at 2am. Anyway, none of Edith's remote efforts had any effect, so another tech is scheduled for tomorrow. I emphasized that age and infirmity have been keeping me at home for much longer than the virus has been around, and that I rely on comcast for information as well as entertainment; she responded that since I'm such a good customer she had arranged to give me a $7.88 credit on my next bill. $7.88. Yippee.
This is particularly annoying since I had to upgrade to one of their pricier levels in order to get C-span and something other than Fox for news. The comcast bill is second only to my rent each month. Yes, I know that I can watch streaming news on my computer. But I'm usually working on something, and frankly, the teevee machine is my only company these days. For what I spend on comcast, the credit is more than a little insulting. "Edith" is lucky that she couldn't hear my guffaw.
Sheesh.

(26,287 posts)Yea, they told me it's a sports and entertainment package so I demanded they list the other channels. 99.9% of them are SPORTS.
I told them if they bundled TCM into some type of movie package, I'd add that, immediately. As it is, I'm still going through serious TCM withdrawal. It was always my favorite distraction channel.

(6,253 posts)and I'd also pay more for a movie package.
The irony is that I am one of the folks on the Classic Films group here on DU that lists the daily offerings on TCM. I can't watch the channel, but I still love it!

(4,858 posts)...it starts by giving me trouble switching channels...I might have to wait as much as thirty seconds before the new channel comes on. Then the info box stops working. Finally, the guide--what's coming next--stops. I pull the plug, wait about a minute, plug it back in, and about five minutes later everything's OK again--for another week. It's no major hassle, but it is an annoyance, and I have no idea why it happens...
