Trueblue Texan
(2,430 posts)...when we brought her home from our deceased neighbor's house, she did nothing but hiss and spit at us for two months. Then our daughter came for a visit from Seattle. In twenty minutes she had Mable tamed. Now she is a love muffin, follows me everywhere like a dog. Sweet kitty cat cat cat cat cat cat...

(22,264 posts)We have a 'leftover'cat from a litter we fostered; they came to us a year ago.
One of them was so skittish, we really did not see her for about a week. The other two got into the swing of things fairly quickly and were easily adopted out - they went together too.
This cat is so untouchable that we named her Elliott Ness. Of course that was when we thought she was a male... anyway after finding out "he" was a girl, we changed her name to Ellie.
If we are very very careful we can touch her but she pretty much has to be dopey asleep, and then it is only for a second or two.
HOWEVER, she is madly in love with one of our senior cats and snuggles with him as often as possible. We have decided he is her support animal.

(21,495 posts)safe, secure, and loved before she could give it back in return.
My guess is she once had a good cat/human relarionship that ended for some reason. Needed time to develop a bond again. Some cats attach themselves to one person and have trouble attaching to another one again.
