Firestone 500's on it. I mean bald! About a month later someone told me those tires were recalled. I went down to the Firestone shop and they gave me a brand new set of 721's! Quite a score for a kid that could barely afford the car and would have had trouble replacing those tires.

I cut it up and saved the seeds; turned it into three-serving soup for 2; planted the seeds and grew a couple more...and I pick up pennies just for luck, LOL.

Similar to the pic: I once bought 3 black outdoor/garden flower pot hangers that had a curly but open hook, on sale, and turned them upside down and mounted them to hold up a simple long curtain rod for push-on velvet curtains (heavy) in the living room.

The end of the clutch cable on my 1986 Honda Accord broke off. Because I didn't want to spend the money on buying a new cable (and didn't want to have to fish the cable through the firewall), I got two little cable clamps and a foot of aircraft cable, and made a loop on the end of the old cable that hooked to the clutch arm on the transmission.

The repair outlasted the car.

a hose in my engine.

It was summer. We were halfway up a trail at Stowe Mountain in VT (allowed) when the steam started coming out of the engine. My only salvation was the Ace found in the trunk. It worked! It was good enough to get us back home to Connecticut, and I didn't "get around" to it right away and forgot about it...until it decided to stop working as I was driving down the CT Thruway. Engine heat rising, I pulled into a gas station and explained my problem. Once the attendant finally stopped laughing, he was able to change the hose and send me on my way. I'm sure he spoke of that for a long time.

We had the audacity to keep asking for more doggie bags. This was 1979 and I was with my grandmother.

However, the cheapest thing we did was go without air conditioning for 4 years in Texas.
