Well, we just can't have any nice things in 2020, can we?
As you probably definitely recall, one of the greatest highlights of 2019 was that beautiful September day when, for the first time in years, candy corn was no longer declared Michigan's favorite Halloween candy, according to an annual CandyStore.com study of best-selling candy. The honor went to Starburst.
Well, sorry, everyone. It was an aberration. We're back to having a garbage taste in candy. Because candy corn is once again Michigan's favorite Halloween candy, followed by Starburst and Skittles.
I give up.

Yuck.
Kudos to my state of Colorado for choosing Hershey's (chocolate) kisses! (and a nod to all too conservative, though changing Kansas for choosing Reeses peanut butter cups).

(27,811 posts)For Halloween candy, I like Butterfingers, Heath Bars, Skittles, and SweetTarts.
I do NOT like Reese's and malted milk balls, aka Whoppers. I like chocolate okay, and I like peanut butter okay, but why on earth did someone decide to combine them? Yeesh. And Whoppers are like chomping on cheap chocolate cardboard.

(86,600 posts)How Montana, Idaho and Wyoming have those as favorites unless they are used as dental aids for rotten tooth removal. So many in these parts have few to no teeth so I wonder how they chew bubbles gum.

Oh, it's Lemonhead. I've never even tasted one.

(3,626 posts)Candy corn is the shit, though with my Type-Wilford Brimley diabetes, not such a good idea.
PS: No one in KY eats Swedish Fish. That would be for fureners. I kid, Kentucky
PPS: Swedish Fish Oreos are AWESOME (and also not a good idea)!!!

(14,853 posts)Of course, it's been about 40+ years since I last went trick-or-treating. I know those blow pops were available back then too.
Candy corn and "wax lips" were the biggest disappointments for me being back then. Lol.
I think most people handed out chocolate, like Hershey's.
Edit: Received quite a few "candy cigarettes" too. Lol!

(3,626 posts)I have no qualms with blowpops, and I've enjoyed more than a few over the years. I would just think they would always take a backseat to Reese's or Twix. I mean, chocolate is a tough act to beat. But, we voted twice for Bush and once for Drumpf, so what the hell do Ohioans know?

(14,853 posts)We've got a significant number of idiots here.
I've been exposed to many of them for years after working in a factory after college, and being pretty much typecast for that type of work ever since that desperate financial decision.
The rural schools in my area are obviously horrible. The lack of basic science education those coworkers received has blown my mind.
