I just discovered that my beer's "Best If Used By" date was last month. I mean, it still tastes good, but I have five, so I'm kind of in a panic. Back in the day, drinking five beers would be nothing. Nowadays, one is my limit.
Seriously, though, I'll probably just go pour them on some plants outside.

(28,831 posts)You have five maybe ten years on that beer.

(43,890 posts)What are we talking here, craft beer, generic lagger, or Falstaff (the Ripple of beers).

(8,445 posts)MGD. It's what I like best, and nobody else does, so nobody ever snags any of mine.

(43,890 posts)So long as you keep laggers cool and away from sunlight they're fine.
They'll skunk if you warm them.
Don't be getting all "beer snobby" on me.

(9,271 posts)Hell try the fancy ones but always goes back to that. We'll buy a mixed case of high-falutin stuff for company and that stuff will stay in the fridge for months.
My daughter and her husband like that no-carb seltzer water beer. YUCK.

(5,641 posts)They might have lost some flavor, taste a little flatter or sweeter, but should still be safe to drink.
What kind of beer is it?
I really only ever drink it after doing yard work. I finish my work and then sit on the back patio and admire it while drinking my ONE beer. For some reason it tastes better this year. Maybe it's because this is the first full year without the negativity of the husband I divorced last year.

(5,641 posts)I bet it taste just fine. I hope you had your one beer and saved the rest. They will last for quite a while longer.
Have a good night and I am glad you are out of that relationship.

(8,445 posts)Probably because I didn't deserve it because I didn't do much today.
And thank you. Yes, conceding that the ex was lost to the cult was a good decision.

(17,130 posts)around. It was fine.
I spent many years with a daily beer requirement; I've gone from a six pack at least a day to about a six pack a year. It's still my favorite hobby, but I just don't do it any more.

(8,445 posts)When I was clearing my ex-husband's stuff out of the garage I found a bottle of Patron which I know travelled around in his truck for a long time. I put it in one of his boxes. I don't like tequila anyway.

(17,130 posts)many years after he died. I traced the commemorative label back to the 80's. I brought it to a family get-together in Yosemite a couple of years back, and it got hearty approval. Wasn't skunky; nobody got sick; and it got consumed and enjoyed. I was glad to provide the experience. Sitting there all those years.

(43,890 posts)The best memory I have of my ex-spouse, was the day she flew back to Houston from San Francisco with sourdough bread, live Dungeness crabs, and Anchor Steam beer.
That was the best backyard pick-nick ever.

(43,890 posts)Anchor Steam is classified as a California Common, originating from American Laggers.
So, surprisingly, it is a lagger.

(8,338 posts)I have been playing follow the beer all around. I have to put down the iPhone and flip open the laptop to look at it on a full screen.
Thanks for giving me 30 minutes of not obsession on this insane election.
You made my night.
