Since it is halloween time, I was wondering what kind of candy everyone likes.
Personally, I like cinnamon bears, tootsie rolls and Mary Janes. I'm not a fan of gummy worms, candy corn and white chocolate.

(12,395 posts)My best friend (who has passed) and I share a sign... circus peanuts... and whenever I see it I know she is waving to me. Its the sign I asked her to use because its not a common set of words. (I chose it because we ate them together once when we were kids). Anyway, she has found a way to send them to me several times lately, so thanks for the help!!

(22,270 posts)if you lived in Fort Worth I would take you to Central Market and get their house brand truffles. They are divine. Lightly dusted with cocoa instead of a dipped shell. SO. GOOD.

Regular candy favorites would be Tootsie Rolls, Payday and Snickers.

I never knew what boiled sweets were-- finally had to google it. It's the Brits' term for hard candy.
Also Hershey's almond chocolate bars.

(54,422 posts)There is a Swiss chocolate maker called Läderach. They make various kinds of chocolate, including white.
My favorite is a white chocolate with a heavy dose of raspberry and blackberry bits all through it (Himbeer und Brombeer). They have one retail outlet in New York City around 59th and Lex. Their dark chocolate bark with orange peel isn't too shabby, either.
Second is a small bar ("mini" made by Café-Tasse in Brussels. It is white chocolate with finely ground coffee running through it. If you have a pile of them set before you, the only question is do you stop because they are all gone, or because you are feeling sick from have eaten too many.
Otherwise, for me the only chocolate is dark, though with a hint of mint or orange flavor is just fine.
And, since variety is the spice of life, there is another chocolate store in Sprout City, called Wittamer, that makes assorted chocolates, one of which is a little bullet-shaped chocolate with passion fruit filling.
If you can't make it to Belgium or Switzerland, there is a store in Paris near the stock exchange (Bourse) that sells their own thin fingers of candied orange peel covered with an exquisite dark chocolate. It's called Debauve et Gallais, at the corner of Rue Feydeau. They are stupidly expensive, about $100 for a pound box, so once a year only at Christmas!

(54,422 posts)Not everyone likes white chocolate. Their various kinds of bark go from ok to fabulous. The one I like has a pink color from the raspberry juice, you can't miss it. There is also a white chocolate with almonds, pistachios and bits of orange rind. The dark chocolate with orange rind is great, too. As for the rest, just follow your tastes.
731 Lex in Manhattan. Well worth the trip!

(25,586 posts)But I rarely can find good quality examples, so I almost never eat candy. I will occasionally steal a few Skittles from the kids, but two or three is usually enough to satisfy any sweet craving I have.
