(4,165 posts)I was talking in my sleep and woke myself up 4 times in one night. The first time it scared me because I thought someone was in my apartment.

(21,636 posts)In September, I recall dreaming we were under a kind of state of siege. People's empty homes were being ransacked amid the chaos.
I saw people getting on a small yacht, courtesy of a kindly stranger, and being taken to Canada (Great Lakes, or the Vancouver area - I couldn't tell).
But then the disorder calmed down - almost as quickly as it had started. I saw people going back to their homes, being helped by the National Guard; people wasted no time in cleaning up, anxious to get back to their normal lives - and happy to be able to do so.
Though dreams are often taken as premonitions, few actually are as you know; they seem to express our fears instead.
I certainly hope so in this case.

(25,939 posts)but I often have work-related dreams where Im trying to solve problems that keep looping back to a point requiring further problem-solving input. It seems like the problem will never get solved, which is intensely frustrating.

(296 posts)Names and faces of people I haven't seen for decades pop up. Sure makes waking up and facing reality interesting.

(16,616 posts)I think because I'm spending so much time here. They always are short and usually involve me making a mistake, or fearing making a mistake, like posting an OP and forgetting to post the link, or forgetting to Rec a post, or posting a duplicate, or making a post and seeing someone else has made the exact same post right before I did and racing to delete it and for some reason being unable to delete it... It's silly and strange, but I'm serious.
More generally, I still have dreams about college, specifically cutting classes and flunking tests, which is incredibly strange because I never cut classes and did well on exams. I also have dreams about not being able to find a place that I'm looking for. I also have a recurring dream that I'm house-sitting in a home that is so big that I can't really get a handle on the house. One time the house had a huge mall in it. Other times, the house has bridges and tropical forests inside it. The last time I had this dream, there were a lot of large dogs in the house. Sometimes I just get lost inside the house.
I wonder what an expert on dreams would say about some of those recurring dreams. Anxiety, I guess.

In annual checkup by my physician, she warned me about the dangers of sleep apnea and referred me to sleep specialist. Result: I had it and received treatment. Violent dreams stopped.
