I just finished watching Away on Netflix.

Stars Hillary Swank as the commander of the first mission to Mars and Josh Charles as her earthbound husband.

Fairly engaging and well done, except...halfway through my watching the series, I learned that Netflix had chosen not to renew it for another season.

So basically, I guess we'll never find out how things fully resolve themselves. (Although the first season did come to a decent stopping point, at least.)

Still, I wouldn't call it a waste of time. Decent series. Wish it was allowed its full course.

Acting was good, but I found it all a bit too 'Space Opera' for my personal taste mr_lebowski Oct 2020 #1
My main criticism is that the initial friction between characters didn't seem realistic. Tommy_Carcetti Oct 2020 #2

Felt like a show made with the intent of it being something that husbands and wives could agree on to watch together.

I mean, a LOT of shows are like that really and there's nothing wrong with that ... but it felt more obvious than usual to me.

They made it out as though several of Swank's crewmates had problems trusting her in the beginning.

In reality, a crew like that would have been training together for years and any initial personal bumps would have been long evened out by then.

Once the episode with the two lesbians played out I rolled my eyes and shut it off. Doubt I'll ever finish it.

Not that I don't like lesbians, in fact, I really DO like lesbians. To be clear
