Denver voters bypass Democratic mayor’s veto, lift 30-year ban on pit bulls
Ballot Measure 2J passed by almost a 30-point margin

By Michael Ruiz | Fox News

Denver voters heavily favored a ballot measure Tuesday to overturn the city’s 30-year-old ban on pit bull ownership. That’s well over 100 in dog years.

Ballot Measure 2J passed by almost 30 points, 64.75% to 35.36%, according to the city’s website.

The move will allow residents to own pit bulls – as long as they are microchipped and meet requirements set by Denver Animal Protection.

Critics of the ban argued that a dog’s breed alone was not a valid indicator of whether it would be violent and that the city had wasted millions on enforcement.

Boarding is free range 1/2 acre with up to 25 dogs. I do not take pits. Too aggressive at play and if they force another dog to retaliate they do not back down. I know pit folk love their dogs but they don't belong in my world. Also I'm sure the Denver ban on Pits seriously cut down on the random breeding of them. Pits and pit mixes are overwhelming the animal shelters and rescues because of irresponsible owners not neutering or spaying.

He had a super soft jaw and was so gentle with our beagle puppies, carrying them back to moms whelping box. But he could grab hold of a big stick and lock his jaw in fun, expecting me to lift him off the ground. Very protective of the kids he played with. His only fault was horrible gas as he would drift off to sleep.
