i got 2 teeth pulled today. last molar and wisdom tooth.

lost the second molar 2 yrs ago, the wisdom tooth started to drop. caused a cavity, and dug into the molar.
in a week or so, i will get the 4 lower incisors pulled.

could have been prevented if a couple of docs had been on the ball, but...
gonna go to mexico and get implants when i lose i few more.

at least the 4 is w my very handsome long time dentist. turns out he is an irish history buff. his son is in the practice now. he told me to see his dad to pull the teeth, get the last appt, and he will talk irish history for as long as i can stand it.
i asked if i should bring a flask. he said- well dad's not much of a drinker, but....

but shit i am miserable. it went well, but...

5. Who was the dentist c. 1940

In Ireland during this time, there were no bonafide dentists much.

The dentist was the bartender quite often. You'd go to the bartender and he'd give you a couple of shots and take you to the back room and pull the tooth that was giving you trouble.

This may seem *funny* to some people but it is the truth, the sad sad truth.

not sure when it got to be a profession here, but it used to be barbers.
figures the irish would go to the pub.

today was a bit of a drive, and early in the day.
the other guy is close by. i was sorely tempted to have a drink before i went.
i def will bring a flask. stories go better w a shot. i can walk if i have to.

9. my husband

He is from Ireland and he has only a few teeth left thanks to the lack of dental care he received as a young person there during the depression.

It makes me sad.

There isn't a whole lot one can do for having only a few teeth left when you are 80+ years old.

10. you can get a good set of implants in mexico.

a friend did it. a place over the border from pima az.
he said the travel costs cut into the savings, cuz it was 2 trips.
but if they are already all gone, it's only 1 trip.

the same group has a clinic in cancun!
that's my plan. always wanted to visit, and mi espanol esta bien bien.
i'll get a couple partials for now. but i am done w heroic efforts to save them.

unfortunately i have my mom's teeth. she had dentures at 50.
my da had his first cavity at 60! and it's not like he took care of them.

that is a pity. i sorta thought my traveling days were over when i got divorced. it was one of the best things about the marriage. went to india, and something like 40 states.

but i got a good settlement, and invested it well.
so, i'm planning a trip to ireland once this plague is over. i'm entitled to dual citizenship. i have been tracing my tree, and it has been a hooooooot.
also learning the drinking songs, and working on the tin whistle.

16. Can you tell me the name of the clinic

near AZ and Cancun? My daughter's boyfriend hasn't been to a dentist in some years and now has some issues to deal with, i.e., some cavities and wisdom teeth erupting. We can't find a local dentist who will even take any new patients right now, let alone accept his dental insurance. I can get him to Mexico cheaply but just need to find a good reliable place.

8. all I have left is seven bottom teeth

got the top all pulled 4 or 5 years ago. Have a bottom partial but I don't use it. Don't need it to eat, and it aggravates a wisdom tooth which remains (it is underneath my jaw, of all places, so I am putting off removing it as long as I can).
