Damn - broke my toe Tuesday

Stubbed the next to my little toe really bad. Now, I've broken the little toe on that right foot about a dozen times, with horses stepping on it, but this is the first time I've really damaged this toe.

At first I didn't think it was too bad but later in the day it hurt a lot to walk so I had my husband tape it to the next bigger toe. Now the bruising extends well into the foot and when I took the tape off a while ago the end of the toe is deep purple while the rest of the toe matches the foot.

I can't wear shoes so I guess I will dig out the sandals I bought to wear after I got my ingrown toe fixed. I hate sandals. At home I go barefoot and when around people I'd rather have full shoes - that dates from a traumatic event when I was a kid.

After some research I decided to not go to the doctor. All he would do is to tape the toes together - we can keep doing that. I'd forgotten how much a broken toe hurts.

No, instead I am punishing myself by watching the old dance movie clips to Uptown Funk. It's so toe tapping fun - and I don't need that this week!

That was from handling very large horses. They didn't mean to but even with my arm holding them at full length away from me, their strides were so big that they would catch me every so often. A 16 to 17 hand horse wearing shoes stepping on your little toe is no fun no matter what footwear you have on.

My worst previous broken toe was when I dropped a sewing machine on my second toe. It was supposed to be mounted in a cabinet but one night when I folded it up, the machine just dropped straight through and hit my toe dead center. I did go to the doctor for it, got it X-rayed, and all he did was tape the toes together. I don't have time for that right now.

and I'm never around horses, so I haven't done mine that way. You have even more sympathy for those events. All I ever do is just manage to crash a toe into something very hard.

I laughed at the reference to horses, though. That’s one of the ways I broke a toe in my youth and believe me, I was no cowgirl.

Lots of big warmbloods standing 16 to 17 hands - BIG horses weighing about a ton. With shoes on, of course. I'm surprised I still have a little toe, it got broken so often.

on a bedframe. The yelling and cuss words that night were something to behold! He taped them up, same as you, but had to shove his feet into combat boots the next morning, poor guy. Hope you have a speedy healing. Toe injuries are insane the way they hurt, I'm cringing just thinking about it.

The whole side of my foot turned purple and I couldn't wear shoes for several weeks, but fortunately it was summer then. There really isn't anything that can be done other than taping it, so I didn't go to the doctor, either. It does hurt, doesn't it?

I have some opioids left over from my back operation and may take one in a bit. I hate taking them because them make me stupid and don't really knock out the pain, they just knock me out. But I only got about 3.5 hours sleep last night an I am exhausted.

And after staying at home most of the time since January, next week I HAVE to go downstate to help finishing clearing Mom's house. I am not looking forward to driving into one of the reddest areas of the state, even if it is only for two nights and one day.

Thanks for the sympathy.

But we are unloading the boxes full of books we put into storage last winter. and I am so eager to get them back on our shelves, I just went ahead and worked on that project. We had over 150 cubic feet of books, plus we've added a lot from my parents' house and even more from my mother in law's house, so it is a huge project to bring the boxes home, unpack them, and get them sorted into categories on the shelves! We're probably 50% finished.

We do have plans for much of our full library once we die, especially special sections of our non-fiction areas of interest. Hopefully, that will be at least a couple of decades in the future.
