ALL the Denver Broncos quarterbacks are in COVID quarantine right now and ineligible to play.
They are looking at starting either a running back, or bringing up a wide receiver from the practice squad who played some QB in college at Wake Forest.
The 4-6 Broncos are facing one of the best defenses in the league in the New Orleans Saints, who are 8-2 and riding a 6 game win streak into the contest.
This ... is going to be freaking hilarious if the league doesn't decide to postpone it at the last minute.
I think they might, but we'll see.

(112,168 posts)as my college alma mater did last year when we were on our fifth quarterback due to injuries. They had to switch one of the receivers who played QB in high school at the end of the season. It was a complete reset for the team since we ran the triple-option offense prior to the injuries.

We can also impress doctors and nurses to serve as referees and cheerleaders.

(33,643 posts)Ravens/Steelers is moved to Tuesday night.
But as you suggest it's not postponed because of a particular position but rather a high total number of players in quarantine. Don't think the Donkeys have met the threshold, just a bad break that all the QB's are ineligible but not enough others to cancel the game.

(182,802 posts)I just think its ridiculous. For the number on a team I get that but just because of this one position no - play the game. The Saints QB will be making his second ever start.
I see a tweet that says Denver pleaded to move the game to Monday and the shield said NO.

(33,643 posts)Who was one of the leagues passing leaders last season. Think he may've had the most passing yards or was #2.
This isn't even a remotely 'even' situation afa QB goes.
But oh well ... BUCK THE FRONCOS lol ...

Apparently one tested positive. Okay, fine that happens.
So the league and union start doing contact tracing to see which other players/staff had close contact. They discover the QBs weren't wearing masks -- despite repetitive explicit instructions to do so -- during their meetings. Whoops. That's bad. A spanking for that is definitely in the future.
Then the contact tracers experience a problem. The QBs won't cooperate. The league and union are in agreement that the players WILL cooperate with contract tracing. These guys say "nope." And for what reason? Who knows? THAT is a bad decision by those QBs. Not only do they guarantee that they will be held out, they piss off a multibillion dollar business that is jumping through all kinds of hoops trying to keep the revenue coming in. And they do so without their union behind them. Add to it that the Broncos QBs are lousy to begin with, most wouldn't be wanted by any other team if they were fired tomorrow. At least one of these clowns could have just ended their NFL career.

(16,374 posts)the pressure on the QB's and their contacts would have been so great that the truth would have come out sooner than later.

(14,966 posts)On one hand I feel bad for the guy for being put in a position where it's virtually certain he'd be embarrassed.
On the other hand, if he was a college QB it was probably a childhood dream to play QB in the NFL, and now he's done it!

(33,643 posts)First game where a team had more INT's than completions since 1998.
I'd be pretty surprised if the passing yards wasn't the lowest in a game in many decades, it was < 80 total passing yards IIRC.

(35,438 posts)Rent out hotels for their teams, staffs, and their immediate families. That would have ensured that the games could be played as scheduled.
They make billions of dollars and most hotels are sitting empty. They could have gotten good deals.
