(7,947 posts)I'd find it a bit intrusive. I would prefer compliments that don't have the sex-tinge, like "gorgeous" and "handsome".
And only from friends-- I mean, really, acquaintances and strangers shouldn't be commenting on your looks-- too presumptive. Harrumph.

(17,235 posts)... assuming your question really is "Is it appropriate for a stranger or mild acquaintance to call one 'hot' or 'stud,'" I'd say that it is presumptuous and possibly insulting. But it does depend on context, it could be an inept form of flirting (whether or not one would choose to react favorably to such flirting is a personal choice).
