I saw Hendrix...

...and Bowie multiple times. Mason with Charlie Daniels opening and Leon Russell back in the '70s. Jethro Tull and even Strawberry Alarm Clock in '66 incense and peppermints where I was the light show with an overhead projector and 4 colored oil bowels at my HS gym.

Tell me what your concert experiences were way back when....

At the St. Paul Auditorium. One of about a half dozen dates on which Hendrix was the opening act.

It wasn't a very good pairing, he says. The kids who were there to scream for The Monkees couldn't really relate to what Hendrix was doing.

I will surely annoy today's youth when I say that I look around and have a very hard time finding any who might rise to that level. That saddens me, but uggh. I watch the Grammies or AMAs and am just sad.

The Who in San Francisco in Golden Gate Park, the Grateful Dead at Winterland, and others at The Fillmore.

I missed Woodstock, but saw most of the '60s "Greats".

Two bands every Fri. & Sat. nite. Small venue, maybe 2500 at most. Highlite would be the Doors New Years shows two years in a row. Also worked security at other Denver venues, Red Rocks n Collosium. Saw every band up close n personal over those years during which time LSD was legal.
Music is still a big part of my life.

Elton John at a stadium, '73 or '74, the big scoreboard screen showing Schroeder from "Peanuts"--that was a pretty impressive feat for the technology of the time!

Everything you hoped he would be. Just amazing.

Dylan every decade since the 70s. CSNY when they recorded Four Way Street at the forum. CSN in a beautiful outdoor show in the 80s. An outdoor mega show featuring the Eagles and Montrose as the opening acts for the Stones. An early edition of Fleetwood Mac featuring Bob Welch opening for Richie Havens in '73 (the spring of quaaludes, where walking around the venue was like being on a boat because of all the people swaying as they veered left and right).

Not many shows recently, except for a trad Scottish group I love called Daimh.

9. I saw Hendrix play under a banyan tree...

I saw Hendrix play under a banyan tree as the full moon eclipsed. He’d just finished a concert at the main arena in Honolulu. There was an “art park” going on nearby where a band was playing ona stage under a giant banyan tree. Hendrix, who visited Oahu often, stopped by and played a long blues with the stunned band while the full moon eclipsed. Top that!
