The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsTales from my run in Central Park, vol.1
Every time that I go for a run in Central Park, there's always someone who talks really loud on their phone. No matter how fast I run, I can still hear them. So instead of complaining, I will post their conversations in the lounge.
On today's run....
Woman on the phone talking to her friend. Tells friend about a guy that has feelings for her but she doesn't have the same feelings for him. Guy wants to know why. She says, "there's no specific reason why. I just don't have the same feelings for you. Whenever I break up with someone, or am in love with someone, I don't have a specific reason." Guy tells her, "that doesn't make any sense".

(17,311 posts)I was fortunate enough to spend most of 2018 working in NYC. Lived right by Union square and walked to work. Got snowed in that Thanksgiving 🙂
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,791 posts)and since I walk rather than run (old knees can't handle running any more), it would seem creepy if I just kept walking close enough to hear their phone conversations. Today would have been a bad day for eavesdropping because hardly anybody else was out besides me (-3 F, -22 F wind chill). Not as bad as it sounds; you just have to dress for Antarctica and keep moving. Next time I see a person talking on a cell phone, though, I'll sneak up on them (maintaining social distance, of course) and listen, maybe they'll say something interesting.
