I have gotten 8 calls since 2:00.
I have my phone set on Do Not Disturb except for contacts but the calls continue.
I guess they think if they call 9ver and over I will finally answer.
Oops. Just called again. That's 9.
My all time record was 36 in one weekend.
Up to 10.
Up to 11.
Up to 12
Up to 13
Up to 14
And this is just since 1:30

(5,438 posts)i don't like "free market solutions, but charging a penny for each outgoing call would cost most consumers less than $1/month but would put these guys out of business.

(9,998 posts)Ignore them, they'll keep calling.
Answer and tell them to stop, and they'll keep calling.
I get automated recording calls saying that I have an opportunity to lower my property tax bill. Press "9" to be removed from our list. The next day I get a call with the same exact recording.
And the Do Not Call List? LOL!!! Sure thing, I've got a bridge to sell ya if you think that is worth a shit.

(13,926 posts)They use a spam calling computer. If you keep answering these spam calls they know it's a real working number and keep calling. If there is no answer the computer lists it as a dead number. Since I have been letting unknown numbers go to voice mail the spam count has gone way down... Not gone but a lot less...YMMV

(32,729 posts)Never an answer so I say with my head turned away hey Bob get this one and enter 4 digits so they get the different tone beeps. They then hang up. In a sweat, I hope. Been getting fewer now.
Try to have fun at their expense.

(10,279 posts)I have the recorder on voice monitor and the volume up. If I recognize the caller and wish to talk, I interrupt the message and begin the conversation.
So far, the assholes have not defeated that.

(9,694 posts)Sometimes I will ay along and then unleash a filthy barrage of invectives at them. Sometimes they use local numb r s and names so I will scream "you are cling from my neighbors house. Is she ok? I know she is very sick". Sort of a hobby with me now.

(32,729 posts)bonged and dings. They use an AI program to figure out language. If it cant assign one to it, it will delete your number.

(34,138 posts)No honorific, no first name, just last name in a very rude voice.
I keep asking who they want to talk to and they keep saying the last name. So today I asked them what they are selling. Long pause, then they hung up.
Robocalls, I just get my frustration out by cussing at them. Live people I screw with and have no compunction about interrupting them to mess up their spiels.

(9,694 posts)"This is officer Michael brown of the social security office. Your card has been compromised yadda yadda."
"Congratulations on being a loyal Marriott member."
"This is Linda Davis. Would you like to lower your interest rate..."
"This is Robert Mitchell from discovercard.."
All illegitimate.

(34,138 posts)Too bad, because they would be fun to mess with.

Then he says some really filthy stuff about sex.
The numbers of robocalls and spammers has dropped considerably for him.

(9,086 posts)She called me to tell me because she was so frustrated. She said they were leaving the same automated message about the iCloud being compromised. One was from ATT (same iCloud message) and the others all different numbers and names. She was up to 9 around 4pm or so.
