So, for those of you who may not have been following...

Damn it's been hard to buy one of these.
Black one - Had talked to him a few times, got permission from Mrs. Glam....pending sale to someone else
Orange #1 - Dick sold it out from under me (see previous threads to see what a dick move that was)
Orange #2 - Turned out to have a rebuilt title. Mrs. Glam was having no part of that...understandably
Yellow #1 - Offer accepted but was working with another buyer who was probably going to flake. Didn't flake.
Yellow #2 - Offer accepted. Never heard back.
Which leads us to the finale!
Drum roll please!
LLLLLLLadies and Gentlemen, may I be the first to introduce you to.............THE BLUE MEANIE!!!!!!
And from the ad....Topless!
It's mine! I can't even believe it! I own a Lotus! Dude! I. Own. A. Lotus! Crazy, man. Crazy.
Picked it up in NJ yesterday and drove it home. Had people talking to me at every stop along the way. Had a minivan pull up next to me in Ohio and snap pics. Had a fucking Ferrari give me a high beam salute today (how fucking cool is that? Amiright?)
Got it registered today and my douchebag plates have been ordered. (Vanity plates are, and have always been, for douchebags. Today, I join that club. But, this is a car that deserves it and I went with it. Douchebag label be damned! (And if you have vanity plates on a non-exotic car, well....I'm certainly not talking about you! LOL!)) BLU MENY!
It's loud....really loud. Obnoxious, nimble, inconvenient, conspicuous, & breathtakingly beautiful. Kinda like a stripper girlfriend. And yes, I've made that mistake in the past. Hopefully, considering this is a machine, it doesn't have the problems associated with the human counterparts of its traits.
Anyway, I finally got my Lotus. I'm just living, man. L I V I N.

(11,796 posts)It turned out to be more of a chore than I expected, but it's fucking amazing. And even if it didn't run, just a work of art in style and form....granted I wouldn't have paid as much.

Just kidding. Sweet ride!
Good tunes inside?
Glamrock
(11,796 posts)Thank god. Because the engine noise is (thankfully) really loud in the cabin. But if you want to drown it out....it gots to be loud!
And thanks for the kind words. I'm beside myself with "WTF? This is my car?"

(112,150 posts)I don't know if I could put up with a car that makes a lot of noise though. I prefer not to get that much attention.
Enjoy your new ride!
Glamrock
(11,796 posts)I get it. But its not the attention with regard to being loud. Its the sound of the engine. For me anyway. As far as the attention as far as a combination of noise, looks, color, etc.....well, you know me, baby!

(11,796 posts)Cant disagree toooooo much. Ive got the most amazing wife, a house I adore, the spare love (that the Mrs doesnt get) of 5 kitties, and now an exotic car. All Im missing at this point is a sick band. Dont want that though, if I get everything, Im bound to die next week. 😝

(17,287 posts)that somehow made the cut. I learned many years ago buying him clothes, just buy it in blue cut the tags and hang it in his closet and eventually he would wear it. I havent heard a but I dont need it in 30 years 🙂

(66,327 posts)I'm happy for you! Congratulations!

(11,796 posts)Ya know, I've always wanted an exotic, or supercar. Ferrari, Lambo, Pagani, etc......
I was going to buy a Vette in another 6 or 7. That was the plan. But mom was diagnosed with Louis Body. She wouldn't retire when she had the option. I want to work until I'm 70. I'll get more in my SS. Now 69 and asked me if "this place" (her house) had a bathroom.
That was it for me. That one statement. It showed me that life is not a dress rehearsal. Do it or don't. I chose (and fortunately have an awesome wife) do. Glad I did it. I'm ecstatic.

Love the look of it. Twenty-five years ago I would have been pestering Mrs GoS about getting a car like this. But now, and especially after watching the TopGear segment and seeing him struggling out of the door, not a chance.
Please keep us updated about your adventures though stay away from the coppers, especially in PA.
As I drive around Provence in the French equivalent of a Kia Soul (An aging diesel 2009 Renault Modus) I shall think of you.

(11,796 posts)But, Clarkson is 6'3". I'm 5'10". And, in another month or so, the top will be off 90% of the time which'll make it much easier.
And thanks for the kind words!

I had a 1960 Lotus Seven. Loved it. Drove it. Sold it before I broke anything.
