Last evening was a bust for fox watching. It was cold, rainy, and misty and I ended up taking a nap around prime fox time.
I got home from work about a half hour ago and they are going nuts! As I pulled in, I saw two in the headlights streaking across the back yard to the shed. After feeding the cats and starting my own dinner, I popped out on the porch. It sounded like King Kong was tromping though the woods! They were gekkering and raising all sorts of hell, running through the woods and playing. I wish I could see them! It sounded like they were having a fantastic time.
I thought about turning on the spotlights on that side of the house but dont think theyd like that.
I am glad to see mowing yesterday didnt traumatize them and they still find the shed and yard to be a safe and happy place. And I think they like Pink Floyd? Of course they do, lol! Anyone on my property had better! At least, they dont seem to mind it. I had the kitchen stereo on and its loud enough to hear when I go out on the deck and leave the door open.
Edit to Add: Im back out on the deck now and I can hear little paws cruising around, lol! I thought it was raining again for a second before realizing what the noise was. They are really exploring! Its great!
Edit 2: Now that I think about it, they are likely already used to hearing music since I always have it on and the weather has been (mostly) beautiful the past few weeks so Ive been on the deck a lot.

(63,221 posts)I wish I could see them. They are such cute little creatures. I remember when I was little, about 12 years old, I used to go exploring in the woods and I ran into a fox.
I was a little surprised, but not afraid. We both just looked at each other for a moment and then the fox ran away and I went on my way. I had always wished that he/she wasn't afraid of me and that we could have connected for a moment. It was so adorable, I just wanted to make friends with it.
