Under The Vest: Inside the World of Police Dogs

If you have an extra 25 minutes or so, this is a really interesting and touching video. No sadness, just awesome dogs and the men and women who rely on them and appreciate them.

And a shorter video of them in action in Oakland County, Michigan. Headphones alert: Music is a little loud, lol.

Full disclosure: My dad was a cop and growing up, my favorite thing to do was getting to visit the K-9 officers with him. Such miraculous creatures and the bond between the humans and K-9s was the strongest I've ever seen.

2. When I was a child

There was a cop who lived near us. He had a German shepherd k9 officer Sasha. His dog loved hanging out with my dog who was a dalmatian,Mikey.

I'd go over to the cops house in the evening sometimes and play frisbee,or throw a ball with them.

The K9 officer Sasha often outperformed Mikey big time when playing . But when Mikey got the ball he was so proud of himself.

The officer would come over when both our dogs were done playing and laying down together panting.

Than we would hand out the treats. It was really fun.

Sasha and Mikey were very good boys. And they enjoyed each other's company.
