clowns arent created, they are reincarnated.
ringling taught clowns based their characters mostly on loony tunes cartoons.

Rocky and Bullwinkle come in at a close second. After that, a lot of shorts came up in the 60s that were good like Clyde Crashcup, Simon and Peabody, Fractured Fairytales and those cartoons. And some oldies like Tom Terrific and Felix the Cat. Some of the really old Merry Melodies cartoons could be a little creepy but were entertaining. I particularly liked the music in those and the WB cartoons.
