A plumber's opinion: Trump's continuing power over the Republican Party

is the power of extortion.

I can imagine Trump telling McTurtle the facts of life as handed down by the King of Trumps:

"Here it is Mac, I don't give a damn about your fucking party, if you don't cover my ass for the remainder of Biden's term, I will form a third party and assure Democratic control for at least four more years, and maybe a lot longer. I know that I can't win, I don't even want to win, but I demand to be seen as a continuing and respected Republican Powerhouse. I demand that you run legal interference for me. Otherwise, I will carry away at least 20% of Republican votes. However, if you play along, in the final year of Biden's term, I will be a good boy, withdraw for health reasons, support the DeSantis/Ivanka ticket and give you the opportunity of continuing your Fascist agenda." Take it or leave it.

I think that Trump, by continuing his claims and keeping his base hopeful, has the Republicans between a rock and a hard place. The master of the con, as a minority shareholder, owns the party, lock, stock and barrel.

The senior leadership in the Republican party must hate Trump as much or more than we do. There is just no way out for them as long as Trump lives.

Sort of co-opt the idea with the long term goal not of winning but as likely the only way forward to clean house of the old leadership and stale or non-existent ideals of the old GOP and allow a bold step forward to form a new vibrant party that actually stands for something you don't have to hold your nose, avert your eyes and cover your ears to support.

The whole damn party is rotten, from the part-time voter to the full time con man. Their only salvation would be destruction.
