(8,333 posts)In the winter we could get a couple cases and hide them in the basement bulkhead. They would stay nice and cold there. Sometimes off cold as a few would freeze. The summer was more Just in Time purchases as there was no place to hide it and keep it cold. The girls mostly stand Riunite wine ( Rosatto or Lambrusco). The twist off was the key. We drank red white and blue, Miller high life, Bud. Schaffer, even occasionally Schlitz. What ever we could get our hands on. Occasionally Molson, labatts or moosehead once in a while Heffenfeffer

(38,317 posts)It's possible I'm still a little angry that my grandma has told me yet again that I need some kind of social life and how I'd soon see that quitting high school was a terrible mistake.
My parents at this point are too worn out to argue with me.
The next decade of my life is going to be a billion times more complicated as my mind goes sideways. (I don't think it was the solder fumes, but they probably didn't help.)
At twelve years old I was reasonably certain I could figure the world out. At sixteen I still had some hope. At seventeen and eighteen the only thing holding me together was my OCD.
Then all hell broke loose.

(115,732 posts)I'd be either watching TV or reading in my room, feeling like crap because once again I hadn't been invited to some dance or party or anything else. I was an unpopular nerd who never once went out when I was in high school.

(34,136 posts)In the summer, I'd leave home before dawn, be out on the road by sun up, ride until it got hot, take an afternoon break (sometimes a nap under a tree), then ride home, getting back just before the sun went down. It wasn't unusual to put thirty miles under the saddle in a day. And I'd do it seven days a week unless Mom came up with some other plan - which I always resisted.
